Sirius

Decade of success for enterprise agency founded by Cardeas director

Sirius, an Enterprise Agency in East Yorkshire founded by Cardeas Director, Linda MacLeod Brown, has just celebrated its 10th anniversary.

Sirius began with a £1 million investment from BP as a means of providing continuing support to the local economy and communities around its manufacturing base. It has been further supported by Yorkshire Forward, a unique partnership investing in the economic future of the local area.

Alan Gordon-Freeman, Managing Director at Sirius, is proud to be a part of an organisation which was only ever meant to be a two-three year project. “We were only ever meant to be a short-term project to mitigate the impact of downsizing on the local BP site. Ten years on, we are thriving and have helped to create more than 1500 local small companies through loans and business advice. We have surpassed everyone’s expectations and aim to make Sirius a legacy for the business community in Hull and East Yorkshire.”

Linda Macleod Brown, one of the founding directors of Sirius returned to Hull for the 10th anniversary event and was delighted to witness how successful Sirius has continued to be as a key player in supporting businesses in the local community. “Sirius was established to help diversify the local economy, away from a reliance on BP. I’m delighted to see how it has evolved and that it is still thriving today.”

Ten years on, demand for the service that Sirius offers is still growing.
